Barn Swallow a Beautiful Bird

I was reading Wiki's Featured Articles. A picture of a beautiful bird attracted me and it was a Barn Swallow. The article was marvelous. It was full satisfactory, but it made me to search more for the bird of the open country Barn Swallow.  Barn Swallow is the National Bird of Estonia.

B.S.(I will use this short form for Barn Swallow). is a blue coloured beautiful bird with a long and distinct tail.A Special thing about B.S. is it live near human structures. It is found in Asia, America, Africa and Europe mostly.

            B.S. is mostly blue colored, but its underpart is white colored. The feathers of it are elongated. The song of the B.S. is very cheerful to listen.

he preferred habitat of the Barn Swallow is open country with low vegetation, such as pasture, meadows and farmland, preferably with nearby water. This swallow avoids heavily wooded or precipitous areas and densely built-up locations. The presence of accessible open structures such as barns, stables, or culverts to provide nesting sites, and exposed locations such as wires, roof ridges or bare branches for perching, are also important in the bird's selection of its breeding range.

The liked food of B.S. is the flying insects. Generaly B.S. nest is An open cup of mud and grass. Lined with fine grass stems and feathers.

Immature Description

• The Barn Swallow is widely distributed swallow species in the world. It breeds throughout the northern hemisphere and winters in much of the southern hemisphere.
• The long tail of a Barn Swallow may indicate the quality of the individual bird, it is a selection criteria in mating season. Females prefer to mate with males that have the longest and most symmetrical tails also they favor males that have a darker reddish chest color. .
• A cruller thing present in Barn Swallows is An un mated male Barn Swallow may kill the nestlings of a nesting pair. His actions often succeed in breaking up the pair and afford him the opportunity to mate with the female.
